It is hard to believe that we are already half-way through our stay here in Viet Nam! This past week was a very busy one filled with visits to business sites such as, Phu My Hung, Glass Egg Digital Media, II-VI Industrial Corporation, and Intel, among many others. When the students weren't busy visiting sites, they spent their time becoming better acquainted with their counterpart UEF students, testing out authentic Vietnamese cuisine, aand exploring the city. Over the weekend the group enjoyed a day trip to the Mekong Delta, and despite the heat we were able to learn about and visit a cacao plantation. On Sunday, we took a trip to the Vung Tau Province to spend a day at the beach. The group succeeded in venturing up a steep set of stairs to see a giant and impressive statue of Jesus, and then spent the afternoon playing soccer with the locals and catching rays in the sun!

Greetings from Viet Nam!
After arriving in Ho Chi Minh City late last night (Sunday morning by U.S. standards), we woke bright and early to begin our program with an eventful Monday. We were warmly welcomed at a reception at the University of Economics and Finance, where the students partook in their first Vietnamese language class. We spent the afternoon touring Ho Chi Minh City during which we were able to see sights such as Ben Thanh market and the Reunification Palace. Our site visit of the day was at the US Consulate where we spoke with Charles Bennet the Chief of the Consular Section. As an ending to our first eventful day, we will shortly be heading to a welcome dinner with colleagues from the University to enjoy some traditional Vietnamese food.
